A METRO THERM domestic hot water heat pump is the eco-friendly solution for the family’s hot showers. Domestic hot water heat pumps use the excess heat from your home to generate domestic hot water for a family of up to five persons.

Domestic hot water heat pumps are available in two versions: air-to-water and liquid-to-water. Air-to-water heat pumps use the energy from hot and humid indoor air to produce domestic hot water, whereas liquid-to-water heat pumps can use almost any liquid as a heat source, including central heating, brine from solar heating and low-temperature district heating.

METRO THERM’s domestic hot water heat pumps have an energy rating of A+ and are available in two consumption profiles, L (190-litre models) and XL (260-litre models).

How does a domestic hot water heat pump work?

METRO THERM's domestic hot water heat pump system consists of an efficient heat pump connected to a well-insulated hot water tank. The heat source (air or liquid) passes across the heat pump’s refrigerant, which circulates in a closed loop. The heat source releases some of its energy to the refrigerant, which is run through a compressor, causing the pressure and hence the temperature to rise. The resulting hot liquid then circulates through a coil around the hot water tank, heating the water.

Our air-to-water domestic hot water heat pump is capable of producing up to 4.5 times as much heat as it consumes in electrical power.

With its direct preheating coil, our liquid-to-water domestic hot water heat pump can make use of the heat source twice, producing right up to 8.5 times as much heat as it consumes in electrical power.

Domestic hot water heat pumps are environmentally friendly

METRO THERM’s domestic hot water heat pumps are inexpensive to buy and install compared to conventional heat pump installations. The system combines a heat pump and a water heater in the same unit and is designed for easy transport and quick installation.

METRO THERM’s domestic hot water heat pumps are among the most cost-efficient and environmentally friendly solutions for producing domestic hot water. They all rated A+, the highest energy rating for domestic hot water heat pumps. A domestic hot water heat pump is an excellent way to establish your green credentials with a highly efficient water heating solution.
