Energy labels and consumption profiles

An energy label tells you, as a consumer, how eco-friendly and energy efficient a product is. Here, you can get an explanation of what an energy label is and what it contains - anb how you can use it to make an informed decision when buying something new.

About the energy label

The most widely used energy label is the EU's mandatory energy labeling scheme. The energy label contains all the information you need so you can make the most energy-efficient choice when you buy a new product with an energy label. The scheme applies, among other things. home appliances, electric bulbs, lamps, TVs, air conditioners, vacuum cleaners and heating systems in all EU countries. At METRO THERM, we make every effort to ensure that our products are as energy efficient as possible. This is good for both the electricity bill and the environment.

What does the label describe?

The energy label shows you the way to the most efficient and energy-saving products on the market. The label is a guide to you as a consumer and tells, among other things:

  • Which products are the best in their product group.
  • What is the annual energy consumption in kWh / year (indicative).
  • What conditions the product has been tested for, as well as data from it, e.g. noise level, water content, etc.

At METRO THERM we have five different product categories with energy labels:

Air-water heat pumps and ground source heat pumps
The scale ranges from A ++ to G for the individual product and from A +++ to G for package solutions.

Domestic hot water heat pumps
The scale ranges from A + to G for each product.

Electric water heaters
The scale goes from A to G for the individual product and from A +++ to G for package solutions.

Hot water tanks and buffer tanks
The scale ranges from A to G for the individual product.

Biofuel boilers
The scale ranges from A ++ to G for the individual product and from A +++ to G for package solutions.

Consumption profiles

Products with hot water tanks are tested according to a consumption profile when they are labelled. This also includes electric water heaters and domestic hot water pumps. The consumption profile tells you what types of needs and consumption patters the product is suitable for. With our icons we have made it easy to see if the product suits your specific needs. Remember that the consumption profile is indicative and that the hot water requirements may vary from installation to installation.

Energy labels – individual products

The energy label for each product consists of two parts; the energy label itself, which shows the energy scale and the main performance data, and a technical data sheet that describes the technical properties of the product in depth. Below, you can find an explanation of how to read the energy label. The explanation is based on the energy label from the METROAIR AQUA 201 domestic hot water pump.

Energy labels – product package solutions

If the product has been tested with other products, e.g. control unit or a tank for hot domestic water, it will also has one or more energy labels for the total package – in addition to the standard energy label. The energy label of the package consists of two parts: one or more energy labels which show the energy scale and the main performance data for different uses (eg for space heating, for domestic water or both), and a technical data sheet which further describes the technical characteristics of the product. The energy label of the package is explained below. The explanation below is based on the energy label from the air-water heat pump METROAIR F6, which has been tested in combination with the METROAIR 330 indoor unit and its control unit. The energy label is for use for domestic water heating and space heating at 55 ° C.
